16 days old

The pups are now 17 days old and it’s a whole new world as they have their little robotic walks and their eyes opened 4 days ago.  Looking forward to day 20-22 where their teeth should be in so they can start to eat on their own some to give Maya a bit of a break.

Parenthood

Dad kicked out of bed while mom tends to a single late night screamer that had a lousy seat at the table before bed.

Maya learns that parenting equals no rest but at least it's for just 2 months.

9 Safe Mountain GSD Pups: 5 girls and 4 boys!

Posted in Safe Mountain Pup Updates on March 11, 2010 by kwdogs

Well— DAY 61, Thursday March 11, 2010— has been one heck of a day with contractions starting around 12:30am the first pup arriving at 2:00am and for the most part a pup every hour on the hour for the next seven hours!  The eighth pup was whelped at 9:00am.   At 11:30am I decided to lay down for a nap and I heard irregular breathing from Maya in the whelping box and sure enough she was spitting out another little girl!  Things went very smoothly and Maya handled things like an old pro! The seventh and eighth pup needed a fair amount of assistance to fully enter the world as Maya was exhausted. There are two blacks  and seven sables.  It’s 12:30pm as I write this entry so how knows?! Maybe there’s another one…..

No surprise that Maya is a loving mother.

Belly up to the bar.

Happy Hour!

I’ll be adding photos all the time and make sure to get some with a real camera and not just my iphone.  Stay tuned!
